European Network of Health Care Chaplaincy,
8th
Consultation, Dublin, 1-5 September 2004

The representatives gathered again under the same tree in the grounds of
All Hallows College and offered a blessing from their own tradition, after
which the Irish group presented everyone with a traditional St Brigid's
Cross.

-
The first and largest Irish convent of St Brigid was at
Kildare.
-
Her Feast Day falls on the 1st of February.
-
The Crosses are made on the Eve of the Feast and are hung
indoors to bring good luck, and are believed to avert sickness and accident.
-
They can be made from rushes grown at the nearby St.
Brigid's Well, Kildare.
