of Finland since 1991.
- involved in the ENHCC since 1993, when the second Consultation was
held in Uppsala, Sweden.
- member of the Steering Committee of the European Council for Pastoral
Care and Counselling (ECPCC)
- member of the Working Group on Bioethics and Biotechnology of the
Church and Society Commission (CSC) of the Conference of European Churches
(CEC), 2004 – 2009.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland has 120 full-time and 17
part-time hospital chaplains. More than half of them are women. More than
half of hospital chaplains also act as supervisors.

Rev Esa Fabrin
Esa Fabrin was born in 1945 in Tampere. He studied in Helsinki
University, graduating in 1969. He has worked in The
Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Finland since then and and in Hospital
Chaplaincy since 1973.
- as hospital chaplain, supervisor (1980-),
- clinical pastoral trainer (1986- in Tampere diocese, 1990-95 in the
Centre of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland for Hospital Chaplaincy
in Helsinki, 1991-95 responsible trainer of The Church of Finland for
Tartu & Tallinn-CPE-project in Estonia)
- KSA (Klinische Seelsorge Ausbildung, 12-Wochen) 1994 in Bielefeld,
Germany.
Since 2003 he has been working as Director of Hospital Chaplaincy in
Tampere (University Hospital) and will retire in March 2009.
